TVS diodes often referred to as transient voltage suppressor diodes are used to safeguard integrated circuits (ICs). TVS diodes are available in surface mount and through-hole packages, and they can be unidirectional or bidirectional. Bidirectional TVS diodes can work at both positive and negative voltages, in contrast to unidirectional TVS diodes, which can only accept positive or negative voltage.
