A selection of Dormer high-speed steel (HSS) spiral flute thread taps, and drills are used to drill holes and make metric right-hand threads in a range of materials. The device simultaneously drills and threads holes. A 30-degree spiral flute on the E650 draws chips away from the tool's tip and out of the hole to minimize clogging.
This device can be used with drill presses, reversible, variable speed power tools, and manual tools like tap wrenches. In materials like metals and polymers, threading taps are used to make threads for bolts. Like a drill, threading taps produce screw threads when they are inserted into a piece of material because of their distinctive form.

To make screw threads, people utilize taps and dies (commonly known as threading). A die creates a bolt, and taps create nuts. Threading is the term used for the process of creating threads using a die instead of a tap. Utilizing threading taps involves:
HSS, which stands for high-speed steel, is often the preferred steel type for drill bits and taps because of its superior heat resistance at high speeds. A normal drill may spin up to 500–700 rpm, therefore the friction can result in a significant buildup of heat. When working with wood and plastic, something that wouldn't be desired.
The top four are as follows:
Straight Flute Taps: these are the most popular form of tap and are appropriate for producing blind or through-hole threads in many materials, primarily steel and cast iron. In the tool's straight flutes, these gather chips.
Spiral Point Taps: Taps with spiral points are good for threading through holes. Chips are forced through openings in front of the tool.
Spiral Flute Taps: Taps with spiral flutes are generally made for threading blind holes. They remove the chips from the tool's tip, pull them up, and out of the hole.
Forming Taps: These tools squeeze the material into a thread rather than cutting it, thus no chips are produced.
