EXAR, a leading manufacturing brand of semiconductors established in 1971 as a subsidiary of the Japanese company ROHM. In May 2017, the firm was acquired by MaxLinear and maintained as a wholly owned subsidiary. ROHM, the Japanese semiconductor company, established EXAR as a California-based American division in 1971 because, at that time, the integrated circuit boards manufactured and designed by ROHM were developed in the US. After buying the firm, MaxLinear has consequently stopped the production of the most prominent products of EXAR, such as the RS-232 interface chips and the unique XR-2206 function generator. Today, as EXAR is a subsidiary of the leading manufacturer MaxLinear which was founded in 2003 by 8 engineers of different origins and skills have maintained a steady focus on brilliance in innovation and performance, providing quality products to markets like connectivity, infrastructure, broadband access, and different industries, and is functional in different countries of multiple continents of the world such as United States, Europe, Asia, among others.
