Cables, Wires - Single Conductors

Single-core or cable, as the name suggests, has a single strand of metal wire, usually copper or aluminum, and insulated coverage is rounded. This wire is classified based on its specific gauges. However, flexibility is indirectly proportional to sizes; as the size increases, the flexibility decreases accordingly. 

Wire and single core are the same things, but the only difference is they are referred to with two different names. If the core contains a single strand, it is referred to as single-core or wire; otherwise, multicore or multi-strand wire.  

Different Types of wire in the Industry  

The most common types of wires available in the industry, each of them can be used as per the applications or projects needed. They include Personal, industrial, and commercial such as follows: 

• Braided Wire: It consists of a small strand of wire integrated and wrapped up with an insulated cover. They are efficient electricity carriers, are scalable, reliable, and durable. Also, it has the potential to reduce noise or EMI shielding.  
• Harsh Environment Wire: Employed in the environments, their surroundings involve high temperature and other circumstances that can damage wire or core cable such as Ultraviolet light, oils, base, acid, and alkalis. 
• High-Temperature Wire: The conductor is a combination of copper and nickel coating. It ensures the insulating materials resist severe temperature in the surrounding.  
• Hook-up and Equipment Wire: A single-strand insulated conductor wire is very efficient and reliable and is typically used in applications that have low supply current and low voltage. It is used in the computer internal wiring system, digital electronic equipment, home appliances, control and automation system, and vehicles.  
• Thermocouple Wire: Utilized within a thermocouple between the sensor and the CJC termination point where the signal is measured 
• Single Core Cable: Single-core cable or wiring is an excellent choice for fixed or permanent installations, and also it is used in the internal wiring system of certain types of equipment. It is typically based on the size of the copper being used, the temperature and voltage range in which it can run, or use will be distinct.
• Tri-rated Cable: Usually referred to as panel cable, this is a single core cable type that is not flammable and has properties of high-quality insulation. This cable bears high temperature, typically employed in high temperature oriented- environments.
• Switchgear Cable: A switchgear cable is a type of electrical cable that is used to isolate electrical equipment in switchgear systems. This is a broad phase that can refer to a variety of cables capable of performing the task, such as the tri-rated cable.
