Solid State Contactors

What are Solid State Contactors?

Solid-state contactors are devices without moving parts that use small control buttons to turn a large load ON or OFF. These contactors are far superior to all other types of contactors in terms of switching speed, durability, service period, and strength. Furthermore, these state-of-the-art contactors operate with reliable switching times, are reliable in dusty or chemical environments, and switch resistive and inductive loads quietly and without wear.

They are available for single-phase and three-phase networks and, depending on the type, also provide a reverse function. These devices are complete units consisting of a solid-state relay and an optimized heatsink and are therefore ready for use. They can be easily installed on a standard mounting rail or attached to the support plates with screws.

Why choose our products?

We offer more reliable and higher quality contactors in various models, rated currents, and voltages. We also have a broad category of the best contactors that are fully insulated and can be mounted directly on motor protectors and overcurrent relays. Moreover, they are available in different mounting styles, types, and series and have a 1, 2, or 3-phase range depending on the type you need to best suit typical motor circuits without a neutral connection.

Additional advantages in the field:

  • Reliable and fast switching.
  • Shock and vibration resistant.
  • Easy connection.
  • High transmission capacity.
  • Direct start and reverse of three-phase asynchronous motors.
  • Switching without mains interference: Semiconductor service providers will only switch to zero-crossing mode. This means that no high-frequency interference pulses are generated.
  • Easy to operate.
  • Integrated blocking circuit and load cabling.
  • If the module overheats, the optional thermal fuse will turn it off.
  • No switching noise and clean operation without dust formation due to wear.
  • Uses high-performance semiconductor devices, supports high bit rates, and has a long service life.
  • Allows quiet and clean operation and is suitable for use in hospitals, office buildings, and other areas that require low noise levels.

How can I choose the right solid state contactors?

Contactors are selected based on electrical system specifications, charging type, and ambient temperature conditions. Because they are already equipped with an optimized heatsink, the selection process is much simpler than for solid-state relays (SSRs).

For ease of selection, the following procedure is recommended:

  • Determine the rated load current and the main voltage.
  • Select a solid-state contactor with the same or higher rated current as of the load.
  • Check the correct contactor for design conditions.

What are the applications of solid-state contactors?

Semiconductor contactors are widely used in a wide range of applications, sectors, and industries, including:

  • Industrial inspections
  • Automation
  • Transmission control
  • Motor control
  • Robotics
  • Medical devices and patient/device isolation
  • Instrumentation
  • Multiplexer
  • Data acquisition
  • Meter (watt-hour, water, gas)
  • IC devices, and
  • Home appliances.
